Adirondack Summer Wedding | Kate & Endel

Adirondack Summer Wedding | Paul Smiths New York Wedding |

We have never worked in such a special location for a destination wedding, and we live and work on an island in the Caribbean! Camp Topridge is nestled in the Adirondack Mountains outside of Paul Smiths, New York and it was the special setting for the wedding of Kate and Endel. One of the historic, grand camps of the Adirondacks, Topridge is owned by close friends of Kate’s family and has been a place for family gatherings for nearly 20 years. It was a fitting place for her marriage to Endel.

Close family and the wedding party were assigned rooms and cabins at the camp and started arriving on Wednesday and continued to arrive until Friday. We spent the days getting to know each other, renewing old friendships, and then hiking, boating and swimming on the lakes, and enjoying meals together in the lodge.

The bride and groom’s friends and attendants showed up early to help the stars of the day get ready (although the bridesmaids and bride’s mother did find time for a mimosa cruise in one of the camp’s electric boats).

A steady rain fell as Kate was getting into her dress, but it ended in time for the outdoor ceremony in front of the old stone chapel. The groom’s father, Jurgen, was one of the officiants, for this wedding, as friends and family tried to hold back tears of happiness.

As the lovely ceremony was completed, the bride and groom slipped away for some photos and the guests were led to the reception by a kilt-wearing bagpiper (Kate’s great-grandfather was a Scottish immigrant) and the festivities were in full swing.

The reception was held under a very large tent with beautiful lighting, local foods, craft beers and a very cool funk band from NYC. All of this was pulled together by an amazing team from Lake Placid, the very talented Cindy and crew from Cindy Byno Lake Placid Weddings and Events.

Great dancing, special speeches and a wonderful time was had by all. The wedding was very special for us, because the beautiful bride is our niece and we were able to spend four special days with our family and witness this special weekend.

We want to thank our extraordinarily talented friend, Erica Berger, who handled a lot of the work that we would normally do, so we could enjoy the wedding as family and not only as photographers. Some of these photos are hers and we could not have done this without her.
